The program was formally launched in Hargeisa at a ceremony attended by senior government officials, leaders of the financial sector, members of the ICPAS Governing Council, representatives of academic institutions, and a delegation from ICPAR led by its Chief Executive Officer.
The launch marks a major step in the professionalization of accountancy in Somaliland and establishes a structured pathway for aspiring accountants to pursue the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification through a program jointly supported by ICPAS and ICPAR.
Strengthening the Profession
Through the collaboration, aspiring accountants in Somaliland will have the opportunity to pursue the CPA designation through a pathway aligned with international professional education standards.
The partnership also provides for dual recognition through ICPAS and ICPAR, supporting professional mobility and stronger regional links for qualified accountants.

The Joint CPA Program is designed to strengthen professional education and provide a credible qualification pathway for accountants in Somaliland. Successful candidates will progress through a structured professional program supported by both institutions.
The partnership is also expected to contribute to stronger professional institutions, improved financial reporting, and the development of a more competitive accounting profession in Somaliland.
